Professor Francis X. May
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Head Wrestling Coach, Boxing Trainer

Professor May, or “Coach May” began his journey with combat sports training in early childhood with Western Boxing. Learning from his friend’s father, who was a Golden Gloves boxer, through middle school and high school, and training at various boxing gyms in Ft. Worth, TX as an adult.

Growing up in a small northern Oklahoma town, known for their wrestling, he was around the sport throughout his youth. As a Junior in high school his family moved to Euless, TX where he attended Trinity High School and won a District Championship in Folkstyle Wrestling.

As a young man in 2009, Francis came upon Christopher Collins of Collins Martial Arts, where he started his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey, as well as his Mixed Martial Arts training. Francis would compete in BJJ tournaments, boxing and MMA events. After Francis going 2 - 0 in MMA cage fighting, sadly, his trainer Chris Collins passed away. Francis would go on to continue his BJJ training under the tutelage of Professor Allen Mohler and was promoted to the rank of Black belt on the IBJJF podium after winning gold at the 2018 Dallas Open in the Brown belt division.

Along with his own MMA training and competitions, Francis also began teaching students. As far back as helping the Trinity high school wrestlers after he graduated, to chartering a TX USA Wrestling youth program in Collins Martial Arts, to private instruction with adults in BJJ, Wrestling and Boxing. Francis has over 15 years of coaching experience. He’s trained and mentored athletes of all ages in competition.
